    Morning boat excursion on the river Ganges. People bath early in the morning to offer the prayers to the rising sun. The two cremation ghats are Manikarnika & Harish Chandra where funeral pyre burns Day and night. Every pious Hindu believes that to die in Kashi and to be cremated on banks of the Ganges is to attain release from the cycle of birth and death.

    Later half day city tour of Varanasi. Tour of the city visiting the Bharat Mata Temple with a big relief map of India in marble, Durga Temple, Tulsi Manas Mandir, Banaras Hindu University which has an Art Gallery and the Mosque of Moghul Emperor Aurangazeb built on the site of an ancient Hindu Temple.

    Morning drive to Udaipur visiting Ranakpur - 98 Kms from Udaipur, the Jain Temples built in the 15th century are situated in the lovely valley of the Aravali. Its surrounding is quiet and picturesque. Ranakpur has grand structures and beautiful sculpture. There are 1444 pillars in the temple and none of them are similar.   • Day 2 :- Chennai - Kanchipuram - Mahabalipuram by road

    Morning drive to Mahabalipuram enroute visiting Kanchipuram. Kanchipuram (64 kms from Madras) is the ancient capital of the Pallavas famous as a city of 1000 Temples and still has 124 shrines. The first temple dedicated to Shiva was built in the 7th and 8th century and has paintings on the walls. Temples of Ekambaswara, Kailasanatha, Sri Kamakshi and Varadarajaswamy are of interest. Kanchipuram is also famous for its silks. Mahabalipuram was a 7th century port city of the South Indian dynasty of the Pallavas. The monuments are mostly rockcut and monolithic, and constitute the early stages of Dravidian architecture wherein Buddhist elements of design are prominently visible. They are constituted by cave temples, monolithic rathas (chariots), sculpted reliefs and structural temples. The pillars are of the Dravidian order. The sculptures are excellent examples of Pallava art. Overnight at Radisson Resort Temple Bay, Mahabalipuram.

  • Day 3 :- Mahabalipuram - Pondicherry by road

    Morning after breakfast, drive to Pondicherry. Pondicherry was under French rule for around 280 years. It still retains its French flavor, seen in the colonial mansions, beautiful boulevards, promenades, and street names on signboards. Visit the Shri Aurobindo Ashram. This world-renowned ashram was founded in the year 1926, by Shri Aurobindo, a revolutionary turned Yogi from Bengal along with The Mother (Mira Alfassa), a French painter and sculptor. The ashram attracts people from all over the world. The central courtyard of the main ashram building has flower festooned memorials of the Mother and Sri Aurobindo under a frangipani tree. One can find farms, gardens, a printing press, some small-scale industries, libraries and facilities for recreation, a Centre of Education as well as cultural programs, as part of the ashrams indigenous activities. Later, visit the Government Museum. Overnight at Maison Perumal Pondicherry.

  • Day 4 :- Pondicherry - Chidambaram - Gangaikondacholapuram - Trichy by road

    Morning, drive to Trichy. En route, visit Chidambaram Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva in his form of the cosmic Dancer. It is one of the five dancing halls (Sabha) of Nataraja and the most famous one. Chidambaram is the Kanaka Sabha (Golden Hall). Further, proceed to Gangaikondacholapuram was erected as the capital of the Cholas by Rajendra Chola I, the son and successor of Rajaraja Chola, the great Chola who conquered a large area in South India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Sumatra, Kadaram(Kedah in Malyasia) at the beginning of the 11th century C.E. It occupies an important place in the history of India. Overnight at Hotel SRM , Trichy.

  • Day 5 :- Trichy - Madurai by road

    Morninng Visit Trichy. Trichy was the citadel of the Chola dynasty in the medieval period. In the 18th century it witnessed the Carnatic wars fought between the French and the English. Lord Robert Clive's house is still there to see and so is the Danish Church. The Rock-Fort is the landmark of Trichy. A climb of 434 steps leads to the ancient temple of Ganapati on top and a further climb to a Shiva temple. Later drvive to Madurai. On arrival, check in at hotel. Rest of the day at leisure.   • Day 6 :- Madurai

    Morning, proceed for city tour of Madurai. One of South India's great temple towns, Madurai is synonymous with the celebrated Meenakshi Temple. Situated on the banks of river Vaigai, Madurai was the capital of the Pandya kings, and an important cultural and commercial centre as early as 550 AD. Visit the Meenakshi Temple- the heart and lifeline of the 2500-year-old city of Madurai. The complex houses 14 magnificent Gopurams or towers, including two golden Gopurams for the main deities. Ancient Tamil classics mention that the temple was the center of the city and the streets radiated out like a lotus and its petals. Next, visit the Gandhi Memorial Museum at the Tamukkam Palace. Continue to the Koodal Azhagar Temple, one of the 108 temples dedicated to Lord Vishnu. Its architectural and sculptural works made of lime mortar are magnificent. Three separate altars feature three figures of Vishnu, in standing, sitting and reclining postures. Overnight at Hotel GRT Regency , Madurai.

  • Day 7 :- Madurai - Periyar by road

    Morning after breakfast drive to Periyar. Periyar is also called as Thekkady. The Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary is spread across 777 km2 (300 sq mi), of which 360 km2 (140 sq mi) is thick evergreen forest. The Wild Life Sanctuary was declared a Tiger Reserve in 1978. The splendid artificial lake formed by the Mullaperiyar Dam across the Periyar River adds to the charm of the park. The greatest attractions of Periyar are the herds of wild elephants that come down to play in the lake. Sanctuary can be accessed through a nature walk, boating or jeep safari.     Kanchipuram (64 kms from Madras) is the ancient capital of the Pallavas famous as a city of 1000 Temples and still has 124 shrines. The first temple dedicated to Shiva was built in the 7th and 8th century and has paintings on the walls. Temples of Ekambaswara, Kailasanatha, Sri Kamakshi and Varadarajaswamy are of interest. Kanchipuram is also famous for its silks.
