On the 3rd day of the tour, you will dig deeper into the culinary culture of Kerala. After a relaxing breakfast, an enjoyable cooking demonstration of ‘Sadhya’ would be showed to you. Sadhya is a vegetarian feast served to natives only on weddings. It would be a lavish affair of multiple dishes that you can taste for lunch. The entire feast will be served on banana leaves as is the custom and is eaten by hand. Evening is at leisure. Before sitting down for dinner, you will be treated to a spectacular cultural show.

Leave behind Cochin in the morning after breakfast for Periyar. Periyar is a long river flowing between Kerala, creating a lush natural environment for wildlife that welcomes several wildlife resorts and the famous Periyar National Park on it’s banks. By afternoon you will reach Periyar and check in the hotel. Following a recuperating lunch, rest a bit as in the evening you will be taken around Periyar. A lovely boat safari on Lake Periyar will conclude the 4th day on your itinerary. The safari will be followed by a dinner. Overnight stay in Periyar.

On your 5th day of the culinary tour, you will get to the heart of Kerala. After breakfast you will be escorted to a spice plantation and a tea plantation where you will witness close hand the entire process of growing and cultivating spices and tea. Kerala is a major producer of spices and tea. You can buy some from these plantations to replenish your pantry back home. Enjoy lunch and rest. Late afternoon will be busy for you with a cooking demonstration. The theme of the evening would be – cooking with spices. Dinner and then overnight stay in Periyar.

A stroll in the nature is just what you need to begin this beautiful day in ‘God’s Own Country’. An early morning tour to the Spice Village will be organized for you. You will be taken around the village to study and identify various spice plants growing in their natural habitat. This delighting tour will be followed by breakfast. A little later a cookery demo will be organized for you to teach you the finer nuances of regional cuisine. Demo will be followed by lunch. Late afternoon will be dedicated to a walking tour of Kumily and the spice shops. Day will end with a dinner and overnight stay.

Into the 7th day of your southern culinary tour, you will return back to where it all started – Cochin. After breakfast in Periyar, you will be driven back to Cochin. On the way you will stop at the plantation Bungalow for a typical home lunch. You will eat few regional dishes prepared in the most authentic way by the native cooks. After a fulfilling lunch, you will proceed your journey to Cochin. Dinner and overnight stay in Cochin.

Wake up to a beautiful sunny morning in Cochin. Enjoy a hearty breakfast before proceeding with the exciting day. A city tour is planned for you including a trip to the ancient spice market at Mattancherry. You will also be taken to the Chinese fishing nets where you will see the close-up of how natives catch their fishes. It’s a stunning sight and not to be missed. After this you will proceed to Brunton Boatyard for a historical lunch. Listen to the age old stories. Return to casino. A spectacular Kathakali performance (regional dance form) will be followed by a nice dinner.

The first half of the day will be spent in hotel exploring the regional cuisine. It will be a hand-on experience, which will give you a better insight into the food of Kerala. As the tour will be ending soon, use this chance to fully discover South Indian cuisine. Evening will be spent in leisure recuperating from the culinary experience of the morning.
